What is the MSMS Program?
The Master of Science in Management Studies (MSMS) is a unique and customizable degree that complements an MBA or equivalent master’s degree from an eligible partner or affiliate school. The MSMS program offers recent graduates or current students the opportunity to pursue advanced management studies and earn an MIT degree in nine months. Students focus their curriculum according to their academic and career goals and complete a thesis in their chosen field.
STEM Classification
The MSMS program is recognized as a STEM-designated program, making international students eligible to apply for a 24-month extension to their current 12-month optional practical training period after graduating. This is available for those pursuing STEM-eligible jobs in the U.S. To qualify, MSMS students must complete at least 24 units focused on the practical application of skills such as statistical modeling, data warehousing, data mining, programming, forecasting, or operations research in analyzing business organization and performance issues. These units can be fulfilled through elective courses or the required thesis.
Our curriculum reflects a truly global program and interdisciplinary approach for students at our partner schools who are part of an immersive MIT Sloan hub for innovation in finance, entrepreneurship, and technology. Here, students design their own path and do a deep dive into a subject matter of their choosing, with the support of faculty members.
Expert and Approachable Faculty
You’ll notice an informality at MIT born of mutual respect. Everyone here is exceptional, and everyone assumes you are, too. The professors you have lunch with know that because you’re at MIT, you have a hand in something interesting and meaningful. They respect that. If you have questions, they'll help you find the answers, or lead you to someone who can. And those expert professors, like most people here, are refreshingly down to earth.
